I'm Anna Petrova. I started throwing pots at an evening class about eight years ago and never really stopped. These days the studio is a converted garage with one wheel, one electric kiln, a sink that is always slightly blocked, and far too many shelves of test tiles.
I make functional pottery: things you use every day and stop noticing, until one chips and you realise how much you liked it. Everything is wheel-thrown, trimmed by hand and fired to stoneware temperatures, so it is strong enough for the dishwasher and the oven.
I mix most of my own glazes from tested recipes and keep notes on every firing in the journal. I make in small batches, so the same mug is rarely available for long. If something is sold out, I'm usually happy to make another round.
The studio is small and also my workspace, so visits are by appointment only. A few times a year I take part in local craft markets.
